About Fay Wu

Fay Wu is a recognized strategic leader and exemplary business builder with depth and breadth across all major functional areas. Her career foundation was established in the North American banking and real estate sector after which she moved into the entrepreneurial world where she has spent the past 20 years building successful technology businesses with global reach. In 2008, Fay co-founded NFQ Ventures, a venture accelerator investing in the next generation of Canadian global companies.

In conjunction with the NFQ investment, Fay spent the past five years as Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer at Fuse Powered Inc. strategically guiding its transformation from game developer into a high-growth analytics and ad mediation software platform company based in Toronto, Palo Alto, & San Francisco, while leading its M&A and financing activities which ultimately concluded with its acquisition by Upsight, Inc.

Prior to Fuse, Fay spent 15 years in an executive role with the Castek Inc. group of companies in enterprise insurance software and IT consulting, growing the group from start-up to a 400-person organization. In addition to growing and leading management teams through volatile economic periods, negotiating business divestiture, partnerships, combinations and sale of the
business; she had primary responsibility for financial stability, raising growth capital, human resources – getting, keeping & growing top talent, implementing scalable operational practices, leading corporate re-branding, plus corporate governance and legal matters, including serving as corporate secretary and board director across all companies.

One of her past companies was honoured as one of the 50 Best Managed Private Companies in Canada and recognized with the “Top Product Launch of the Year” award, followed by the “Top Transformation Company of the Year” award in the prestigious Branham Awards competition. Fay’s success is based on building strong relationships across the stakeholder, investment, and legal community and as a result has successfully led financing rounds, raising in excess of $90 million in venture capital.

Prior to entering the entrepreneurial world, Fay held senior roles with major financial institutions, negotiating and structuring large-scale real estate project financing along with acquisition and corporate financing. During this time, Fay was directly responsible for the growth and management of loan asset portfolios in the $300 million – $1 billion range.

Fay holds an MBA with international business and finance specialization from the Shulich School of Business (York University) in Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) and has completed the multi-year Birthing of the Giants program for high-growth entrepreneurial companies at MIT, and most recently the Harvard Law School Executive Program in Negotiation. She has been a speaker at various industry and entrepreneurial conferences on how to successfully scale and grow organizations.

Fay is Chair of the Development Cabinet of POGO (Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario) and sits on the POGO Governance Board. She also sits on the University of Toronto Real Estate Advisory
Group, has been a mentor in the York University MBA Program. Fay has served on condominium boards as well as city planning and community improvement groups. She also advises and mentors women entrepreneurs through SheEO.

Fay is an accomplished photographer, and has shown and sold her work at several art galleries. Other interests include real estate development, scuba diving, skiing, and a keen interest in
different cultures, remote travel, and languages.
