About Janey Buzugbe

As the Head of the Black Innovation Programs and Partnerships, Janey oversees and provides strategic support for corporate partnerships and industry programs for Founders in the Black Innovation Program (BIP).

Janey is an energetic and innovative professional who believes in living life by giving, and what she has to give is humanity at the intersection of business and technology.

Janey started her career in Information Technology where she was mostly the only woman in the room. Upon moving to Canada in 2015 to study Advertising & Media, she was met with a lot of culture shock. This shock led to the creation of her Startup, JaneyofCanada, a digital consulting shop that serves 13000+ Newcomers to Canada on navigating life as an immigrant through YouTube and Coaching. As a professional, she brings years of experience in the Corporate and Startup worlds in Information Technology, Digital Marketing, Program Management, Recruitment, Sales and Business Development.

Janey considers herself a student of life – constantly learning new ways to advocate for personal and professional development in underrepresented (underestimated) people. She does this through her Startup and in her current role as Manager, Black Innovation Programs & Partnerships at DMZ. She has attained an Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Postgraduate certificates in Media & Account Management and a Masters in Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.
