About Jodi Kovitz

Diversity advocate Jodi Kovitz is pushing to make increase inclusivity in Canada’s growing tech sector. The Torontonian is the founder and CEO of Move The Dial, a movement founded in January 2017 dedicated to advancing women in tech. Since launching, the group has partnered with leading organizations to hold career workshops, conferences and notably produced a much-discussed report about the lack of diversity at Canada’s top technology companies. Meanwhile, Kovitz’s notable work behind the scenes has resulted in awards, such as being named as one of Canada’s top 100 most powerful women by the Women’s Executive Network. She also serves on the SickKids Foundation Capital Campaign Cabinet to raise $1.3 billion to transform children’s health and is leading the first-ever tech community strategy to raise $25 million with a team of fellow tech leaders.

“1. Dream big: Take small steps to realize your dream with what I call a “cue card” plan to get there. This means breaking down shorter term goals into attainable chunks and working towards a bigger longer-term objective. 2. Follow your intuition and your heart so that you can do what you love, and 3. It really is a journey and nowhere worth going is an obvious straight line. I’ve taken many twists and turns; and that’s ok. You don’t have to have it all figured out before heading in a direction.”
