Teresa Marques

Teresa Marques is an established senior executive and educator in the non-profit sector. She is interested in how giving patterns in Canada are changing and is seeking ways to drive innovation and social change through philanthropy while strengthening the non-profit sector in Canada. Teresa leads the Rideau Hall Foundation – a national charitable organization working towards a better Canada, by addressing key challenges facing the country in areas related to learning equity, our culture of innovation, leadership development, and the promotion of giving and volunteerism.

What are your hopes for the next generation of women in tech?
My hope is that the next generation of young people from all areas of the country will be able to pursue and realize their own potential to innovate, without barriers to entry or success based on who they are or where they come from. A better, more inclusive, more innovative Canada depends on it.

What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Surround yourself with people who think differently than you do, and bring different life experiences. This will inevitably lead to better outcomes and more creative solutions. Always stay curious about the world around you. Lead with kindness.
