To apply to the program, you'll need:

Potential to disrupt the insurance industry

Focus on solving a compelling industry problem

Innovative technology in your solution

Functional prototype (at minimum)

Clear application to the insurance industry*

A business case or partnership opportunity with Aviva Canada

*Including but not limited to the areas of IoT, autotech, autonomous cars, claims management, risk mitigation and analysis, healthcare, big data, security, blockchain and insurance optimization.

Program timeline

April 3: Application deadline

Eligible startups can apply through the online application form here. The deadline to complete and submit your application is April 3, 2017.

April 27: Pitch to Aviva and DMZ selection panel

Based on the quality of submissions, up to 10 finalists will be chosen and invited to pitch to the selection panel, comprised of Aviva Executives, program advisors and the DMZ’s Startup Services team.

May 1: Participants are selected

The panel will select six winning startups to participate in the four-month program. Successful applicants will be notified by May 1, 2017.

May 10: 4-month accelerator program starts

Startups will start their four-month intensive journey and join the brightest entrepreneurial community North America has to offer.

September 18: Startup Showcase

At the end of the four months, the six startups will participate in a “Startup Showcase,” where they’ll pitch for pilot opportunities with Aviva Canada and investment opportunities from UK-based Aviva Ventures, a £100M fund established to fuel the success of insurtech companies globally.
